Midland Dentist Nominated for Texas New Dentist of the Year Award

AUSTIN, Texas – (July 11, 2023) – John K. Drisdale, DMD, of Midland, Texas, has been nominated by the West Texas Academy of General Dentistry (West Texas AGD) for the Texas Academy of General Dentistry’s (Texas AGD) Texas New Dentist of the Year Award. This award is considered the most prestigious honor a Texas new dentist can earn.


Dr. Drisdale is one of only 12 dentists nominated for this year’s award. He and the other nominees will be honored at the Texas Academy Awards on Friday, September 22. Each nominee will be recognized and will receive an engraved plaque. The Texas Academy Awards will conclude with the announcement of the 2023 Texas New Dentist of the Year. “Being nominated for the New Dentist of the Year award is a significant honor and recognizes a talented group dentists who hold the future of our profession in their hands,” says Texas AGD President, Dr. Shane Ricci.


Dr. Drisdale received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He is an active member of several state and national dental organizations, including as the 2022-2023 component president of the West Texas AGD. Dr. Drisdale distinguished himself professionally by pursuing the AGD Fellowship Award and earning his Fellowship in 2023.
